A developer ships an update, the data layer changes shape, and three conversion events silently stop firing. Nobody notices until pipeline numbers look wrong.
GOOGLE TAG MANAGER FOR B2B SAAS
Google Tag Manager setup that keeps working after your next deploy
Built and documented by the engineers who also ship your marketing site — wired to a clean data layer and server-side tagging, so events keep firing through code changes, consent updates and CRM syncs, not just on launch day.

The situation
Your GTM container works — until it doesn’t
Most tracking problems aren’t visible until a board meeting, a CAC payback review, or a lost quarter of attribution forces the question. By then the fix costs more than the setup would have.
Whoever built it left, got promoted, or was a freelancer who never documented it. Every new hire inherits a black box.
Since consent requirements tightened across the EU and UK, unmodeled conversions have quietly disappeared from dashboards — and nobody flagged it.
Marketing says the tracking is broken. Engineering says nothing changed on their end. The ticket sits in a backlog neither team owns.
A dozen scripts loaded through GTM are adding seconds to load time, and nobody has audited which ones still earn their place.
Marketing reports one lead count. Sales sees a different number in the CRM. Attribution breaks down before either team can trust it.
Why Growston
Most agencies stop at the report. We ship the fix.
A tag manager account is not a tracking strategy. Growston pairs the person who decides what should be measured with the engineer who can actually implement it — inside your codebase, not in a PDF you forward to a dev queue.
A typical GTM install
- Installs the container and calls the project done
- Treats consent and privacy as an afterthought
- Reports "the pixel fired"
- Recommends a fix in a ticket you forward to your dev queue
- Disappears after handoff
Growston
- Builds the container, documents every tag and trigger, and hands you a data layer spec your next developer can actually read
- Implements Consent Mode and server-side tagging as part of the initial build, not a compliance patch bolted on later
- Reports qualified pipeline and CAC payback tied to the events your board actually asks about
- Ships the fix, because the person who found the problem is also the person who can write the code
- Runs a monthly tag health check and flags drift before a broken event costs you a reporting quarter
What we do
Full-stack tag management for B2B
Google Tag Manager sits under Growston’s Analytics & Tracking pillar — the measurement layer every other service on this site depends on. Each block below is also a service you can go deeper on.
GTM audit & container cleanup
We map every tag, trigger and variable in your existing container, remove duplicates, and document what's left — before we touch anything.
Server-side tagging (sGTM)
We move tracking off the browser and onto a server container where it makes sense — better data quality, less script weight on the page.
Event & conversion tracking
We define the events that actually matter — demo requests, trial starts, pricing-page depth — and wire them so every channel counts the same conversion the same way.
Consent Mode & privacy-compliant tracking
GDPR-aligned Consent Mode implementation tied to your CMP, so modeled conversions replace the data you'd otherwise lose.
Data layer documentation & QA
A written data layer spec any future developer or agency can pick up, plus staging QA before anything ships to production.
Platform migration & handoff
Universal Analytics to GA4, CMS migrations, domain changes — we carry tracking continuity through the move instead of losing a quarter of history.
How it works
From a broken container to a documented one, in four steps
Every step produces something you keep — whether or not you continue with us.
Audit
A full review of the existing GTM container: every tag, trigger, variable and data layer event, checked against what should actually be firing.
You receive
A written findings document listing every broken, duplicate or unnecessary tag — yours to keep regardless of what happens next.
30/60/90 Plan
A sequenced plan to rebuild or reorganize the container, move to server-side tagging where it improves data quality, and align events with what sales and finance already track.
You receive
A roadmap your CTO or CMO can approve in one meeting.
Build & Launch
The analytics lead and an engineer rebuild the container, set up server-side tagging, and implement Consent Mode — tested on staging before anything ships to production.
You receive
A documented, version-controlled GTM container connected to a working data layer.
Optimize & Report
Ongoing monitoring for tag drift after every deploy, monthly reporting on data quality, and a quarterly review of what's tracked and why.
You receive
A monthly tag health report and a live dashboard showing what's tracked, what isn't, and what changed.
We start with a meeting. You get a written proposal within 3 business days.

The alternatives
The honest comparison
| Growston | In-house hire | Big traditional agency | Freelancer / solo contractor | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cost | Fixed-scope pricing for senior delivery, no full-time salary | A senior analytics engineer runs well into six figures a year in salary, recruiting and ramp | Expensive, and tagging work is usually subcontracted or handed to a junior | Cheap, but availability and quality vary project to project |
| Time to value | Audit to a documented, working container in weeks | Months to hire and onboard | Weeks to get GTM on the roadmap behind other deliverables | Fast to start, slow or stalled if they become unavailable |
| Strategy + implementation together | Yes — the same team decides what to track and ships it | Depends entirely on who you hire | Rarely — tracking is usually a line item, not a core capability | Depends on the individual; no backup if they're out |
| After launch | Monthly tag health checks catch drift before it breaks a report | Maintenance depends on their other priorities | Handed off, rarely revisited | Unreliable continuity |
Fit check
Who this is for — and who it is not
Not a fit if you…
- You need results in 30 days
- Have no live website or app yet to track
- Want the cheapest possible pixel install with no documentation
- Aren't willing to give us access to your GTM account, CMS or dev environment
- Operate in crypto, gambling, adult content or MLM
Good fit if you…
- Run a B2B SaaS or scale-up in the Nordics, UK or US with real ad spend or content investment riding on your tracking
- Have watched two teams argue over numbers that should be the same
- Are migrating platforms, redesigning your site, or dealing with a Consent Mode change that broke your reporting
- Want a documented container your next hire can actually read

FAQ
Before you ask
Do you work with our existing GTM container, or rebuild from scratch?
We audit first. If the container is salvageable, we clean and document it. If it’s beyond repair, we rebuild it — but you keep the historical data either way.
What is server-side tagging, and do we actually need it?
Server-side tagging routes tracking data through a server you control instead of directly through the browser. It improves data accuracy against ad blockers and browser restrictions, and it reduces the number of scripts loading on your page. Not every site needs it on day one — we tell you honestly if it’s premature for your traffic volume.
How does Consent Mode affect the numbers we see in GA4?
Without Consent Mode, visitors who decline cookies simply disappear from your reporting. With it configured correctly, Google models those conversions instead of dropping them, so your numbers reflect closer to what actually happened.
We already have a developer. Why not just brief them?
You can. Most teams that come to us already tried that, and the ticket sat behind product work for months. We ship the fix directly because tracking is our priority, not a side task.
How long does a full GTM rebuild take?
A typical rebuild runs 2–4 weeks from audit to a documented, tested container, depending on how many tags and data sources are involved.
Do you handle migrations from Universal Analytics or another legacy setup?
Yes. We carry tracking continuity through platform, domain and CMS migrations so you don’t lose a quarter of historical comparison data.
Who owns the GTM account after the project — us or you?
You do. We build under your Google account from day one. There’s no proprietary lock-in.
Can you connect GTM to our existing CRM and lead scoring?
Yes — this is usually where the real value shows up: events wired so marketing’s lead count matches what sales sees in the CRM.
What happens if something breaks after you hand it back?
If you’re on an ongoing tag health plan, we catch drift before it costs you a reporting period. If not, we’re a message away for a one-off fix.
Do you serve companies outside the Nordics, UK or US?
Those are our primary markets, and where our delivery model is tuned to work best. Reach out — we’ll tell you honestly if we’re the right fit.
